If you're reading this page, you're likely considering the 'what next?'. You've developed great knowledge and experience, but might feel restless. What are the next steps?
There are many options.
Postgraduate studies and APA titling pathways
Undertaking a post graduate masters or Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) titling pathway is an incredibly rewarding and satisfying part of your physiotherapy career. There are obvious benefits to patients and their management. There is also professional recognition of your skills, and improved work and financial opportunities across clinical, sports and performance domains, teaching and research. Many of our team have completed one or multiple postgraduate courses. And whilst we have loved it, we recognize these courses are expensive, and require significant time and personal commitment.
Professional Development Courses
Professional development short courses are a necessary part of your developing your expertise. You can learn content, research trends and application. We really are spoiled for choice in this domain.
Our team of experienced physiotherapists have teaching experience at universities, hospitals, the Australian Physiotherapy Association, and other key professional bodies. We know what is currently taught in the professional development course landscape within Australia.
A common theme we hear from experienced physiotherapists is that as they become more experienced, there may be less formal courses that meet their needs.
How is physiotherapy coaching different from professional development courses?
On their own, the knowledge delivered by weekend or online courses is not enough to fully change your clinical practice. Individualised clinical coaching encourages and develops self-reflection skills. This facilitates your new course content translating into your work in the clinic, and ultimately benefits you and your patients.
Especially for experienced clinicians, we focus on topics such as advanced clinical reasoning, to streamline your clinical skills for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. We use several strategies to support this aim. This includes direct discussion of knowledge, research and additional resources to support your learning, case discussions and examples, mock and peer reviewed assessments, and viva practice.
If you're contemplating or completing your masters or titling pathways, mentoring sessions can address whatever area of practice is relevant to you. If you’re not sure specifically what that is yet, that is quite ok – contact us for a free 15 minute discovery call.
